For nearly a decade prior to formally entering the real estate industry as a professional agent, I immersed myself in the Canberra market as a keen follower of weekend open homes, an enthusiast of auctions, and a dedicated observer of sales results when purchasing properties for myself.

After gaining experience in various roles across selling and property management within the industry over six years, I noticed a significant gap in buyer representation during real estate transactions. Now, nearly 27 years later as one of Canberra’s pioneering buyer’s agents, I leverage my extensive skill set to advocate for buyers, ensuring their needs are professionally met and their interests are safeguarded.

As a lifelong Canberran, my fascination with the city’s property scene traces back to childhood. From an early age, I’ve been captivated by real estate prices, committing sales outcomes to memory—almost like a savant. This early intrigue evolved into a love for property acquisition, where I made my own purchases, believing my intuition was sufficient despite my lack of formal real estate training.

My journey mirrors that of many clients who venture into property transactions alone, initially unaware of the substantial benefits a buyer’s agent offers. It was through my collaboration with Penny that I truly understood the expertise and guidance such professionals provide. Today, at Hyde Burchell, the company Penny and I founded, I am privileged to continue this journey, leveraging my experience to assist others in achieving their property goals.
