Buying a house is difficult, buying the ideal family home even more so, particularly when choice can be so limited in desirable suburbs with sought after school catchments. After many months of watching the local market and viewing properties, we found one that was just right for us. However, turning that desire to buy into success was anxiety ridden especially when we realised that offers on the property had been refused, that interest in it was rising, and the only way forward was a competitive auction involving multiple bidders.
Despite being a former diplomat with extensive experience in negotiation, I decided to seek out expertise to help. In a stroke of good fortune, a colleague recommended that I contact Penny Hyde. From the first exchange of emails and phone calls to managing the actual auction, Penny was just brilliant. Buying property is such a stressful thing to do-even more so when you are buying in a different city to where you live-but I have never had a purchase go as smoothly as when working with Penny & Ian. I wanted to buy an investment property in Canberra, but didn’t want to go through the whole process without any help. So, I decided to ask Penny and Ian to help me.
I am very happy with their service. I guess you never know if the Buyers Agents are skillful until you run into problems. I had a minor problem on settlement day, where the vendor’s tenant had left rubbish in the property and the vendor was interstate and unable to clean up the property before settlement.
Penny and Ian were able to help me navigate through that, with the help of the conveyancer who they recommended. They were able to lean on their experiences to help me calmly resolve the issue.
Penny and Ian helped me find a property that ticked all the boxes that I asked for. I’m very happy with the performance of my investment property.

I don’t think I would have bought a property without Penny. As a first home buyer moving from Melbourne to Canberra with lots of travel commitments I was daunted by the whole process.
